Behind the bar is an impressively large swimming pool, with single sun loungers and more beds and cabanas around it, as well as a poolside swim-up bar.

Suay Restaurant Cherngtalay, Moo 6 Si Sunthon, Thalang District, Phuket, Thailand
Suay restaurant
MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View: the acronym of 'sassy, unique, authentic and yummy' may sound kitsch, but the airy and bright interior with its Portuguese-tiled floor is anything but. Owner-chef Tammasak, trained and brought up in Germany, skilfully updates Thai food with modern techniques and artsy presentations. Dishes, including the signature braised beef cheek in Massaman curry, are seasoned with bold but well-judged spicing. Try the set menus to sample the variety on offer.

This is the must-visit place in Phuket for food that offers flair, sophistication, and creativity, and definitely one of the best in Thailand. Its obvious that a lot thought and work has gone into creating the dishes and at around $50 a pop for the degustation and for dishes this fine and creative the price is an absolute bargain for an evening of food delight. Great thought and preparation has gone into making each of the dishes and most of them are spectacular.

Bocconcino Phuket, Choeng Thale, Thalang District, Phuket, Thailand
Bocconcino Italian restaurant
Bocconcino is a stylish Italian delicatessen located opposite Surin Plaza nearby Surin Beach. Inside the clean-cut, light wooden-themed interior you will find an amazing array of Italian food items ranging from top-quality olive oils, balsamic vinegars, home made and dry pasta, cold cuts, cheeses, wines and Champagne, imported meats to sweets and italian fruit juices.
What is singular about Bocconcino is that its food stock takes in so many aspects of its home country, from freshly baked bread and foccacia, baguettes, buns, pastries (all baked on the premises daily), to cold cuts, sausages, bacon to canned goods such as tomato sauce for pizzas and pastas, sardines, tuna, several types of spaghetti, olives, balsamic vinegars, spices, cheeses, coffee, biscuits – all genuinely Italian. You’ll also find an extensive choice of Italian mineral water here, along with imported juices and a wonderful selection of Italian wines and spirits that aim for a more discerning clientele rather than low priced labels.
Black Cat Bar & Restaurant, Bandon-Cherngtalay Road, Choeng Thale, Thalang District, Phuket, Thailand
Black Cat restaurant
One of the most popular dual-themed restaurants in which diners can choose between international and Thai food is Black Cat, a Franco-Thai business that has been operating since 1996.
Black Cat’s menu is positively Gargantuan in size. Covering mostly Mediterranean and Thai dishes, the food preparation is beautifully simple, nourishing and generous. We order a huge salade Niçoise that is filling and healthy, followed by a tuna steak with French fries along with beef lasagna. It’s all expertly prepared and the personal touch is very much there – in keeping exactly in line with the restaurant’s friendly, one-on-one approach. This being Phuket, there’s a large fish selection and a good recommendation is the sea bass filet in white wine and mushroom sauce with potato wedges. There are plenty of desserts to select and the crepe chocolate is recommended – a feast for the eyes and stomach.

Phang Nga Bay, Thailand
Phang Nga Bay
A distinctive feature of Phang Nga Bay are the sheer limestone karsts that jut vertically out of the emerald-green water. James Bond Island and Koh Panyee are just two of the more famous spots in this bay. By far the best means of enjoying the spectacular scenery, with only brief encounters with the tourist crowds at James Bond and Koh Panyee, is to take one of the boat trips from the northern end of Phuket. A leisurely day trip cruising through the dramatic limestone islands, occasionally stopping to enjoy quiet beaches, is far more rewarding than the standard bus-boat tour.

James Bond Island, Thailand
James Bond island
This famous landmark, called Koh Ta-pu ('Nail Island'), first found its way onto the international map through its starring role in the James Bond movie 'The Man With the Golden Gun'. And this is where most tours seem to take all of the tourists - all at the same time. The entire area surrounding this island with its signature rocky pinnacle is indeed spectacular, but most of the tours bus visitors up the main highway for an hour on the same well-worn itinerary. An integral part of that tour is lunch at Koh Panyee, a nearby Muslim fishing village.

Phi Phi Islands, Krabi, Thailand
Phi Phi Islands
Phi Phi Island is Thailand's island-superstar. It's been in the movies. It's the topic of conversation for travelers all over Thailand. For some, it's the only reason to touchdown in Phuket. Even with all the hype, it doesn't disappoint. Phi Phi's beauty is a large chunk of the allure. The islands, when approached by boat, rise from the sea like a fortress. Sheer cliffs tower overhead, then give way to beach-fronted jungle. It's love at first sight.

Hanuman World, Wichit, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket, Thailand
Hanuman World Eco Adventure Park
Hanuman World Phuket is an exciting yet extremely safe treetop ziplining adventure just to the west of Phuket Town. With 16 thrilling lines up to 400 metres in length, dodging between huge and ancient trees in dense hillside jungle, it is a great way for families and thrill-seekers to get close to nature without risking either your own safety or that of the trees around you. Opened in March 2016, the large adventure park also features a sky walk, allowing you to traverse the forest canopy at a rather more sedate pace, stopping to look at the remarkable wild trees and plant life around you. The walk leads to a large platform with a trampoline-like sun bed and a bar for trying out different local fruits and their juices. There is also a "roller zipline" which traverses the whole park at high speed in one long, twisting line.
